‘Celebration on the Green for the Queen’ – great day!
We had a great day at ‘Celebration on the Green for the Queen’! The committee started early, putting up marquees in glorious sunshine as classic cars drove through the village heading to Worsley Old Hall. It wasn’t to last though and those grey skies set in! The event kicked off at 11am with a special celebratory service at Roe Green Church attended by the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Karen Garrido and her husband. Then the party kicked off properly with live music from the fabulous Hosen Brass, visits from Marshall, Minions, Peppa and Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue, food, hog roast from Lars, ponies, stalls (including Worsley honey), The Pizza Maker (who sold out of pizza!), bouncy castle, rides, cake, bar, tombola, raffle, balloons and much more. We didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits and a great day was had by all, it was great to see the Roe Green community out in force.
Thank you to Hosen Brass, Adjay mascots, to the stallholders, to the individuals and businesses that donated prizes and cake and last but not least to all our fantastic volunteers, we could not have held the event without your help.
We are delighted that the event raised around £3,300 for the play park fund. We have costs to deduct but they should all be covered thanks to the grant we have received from Salford CVS’s Little Pot of Wellbeing and our headline sponsor TFE Steel Fabrications! Thanks for all your support.
